Why Landlords in Sheffield Need a Gas Safety Certificate
Sheffield has a large number of landlords who have

However, there’s one thing that all landlords need to ensure they do, no matter
what kind of properties they let, and that’s to have an up to date gas safety
certificate. This needs to be carried out by qualified gas contractors
and ensures all the gas appliances in your property

need to know.
Why is gas so
dangerous?
Gas is used in many rented homes, whether it’s fireplaces or
boilers, but many landlords don’t realise that these appliances can get
dangerous over time. Leaks can cause serious property damage from explosions and

to carry out the checks is so essential. Landlords

Getting your
certificate
Gas safety certificates should be done within 28 days of a
new tenant moving in, and need to be renewed annually, so most landlords have

certificate whenever people move in and out, just make sure the check is done
annually and a copy of the certificate is in the house.
What is checked?

connection, then you need a certificate. This means anyone in Sheffield renting

all need a certificate. Many Airbnb properties are also located in the city
which need certification, as well as holiday lets, even down to houseboats, and
